AVOCADO TREES FOR LOKOJA: A GREEN PLAN THAT CAN PAY!
Heat, environmental pressure, and unemployment often rise together, but Lokoja’s one million avocado trees proposal targets both nature and income. Act for change.
The goal is to reduce city temperature and position Kogi State as Nigeria’s leading avocado producer. Nature and jobs can grow together.
Tree planting matters in intense heat zones because shade lowers sun impact, improved soil moisture supports healthier growth, and urban heat becomes more manageable over time. Shade cools.
Economically, mature avocado trees can produce hundreds of fruits per season. One million trees could generate strong revenue, especially with irrigation support. **Farmers can earn more.
The project can also create jobs, strengthen agro-processing, improve food security, and attract investment into Kogi. Revenue follows good planting.
I sincerely hope the proposal is approved and implemented, not left on paper. If sustained, it can transform Kogi environmentally and economically for generations. Plan for the future.
Have a good day.
