GOOD HYGIENE: THE FOUNDATION OF HEALTHY AND PROFITABLE LIVESTOCK FARMING

August 22, 2026

Good hygiene is not only for humans; it is essential for livestock enterprises. Clean surroundings, water, feed, equipment, and carcass management support healthier animals and farm performance. Cleanliness protects productivity.

Maintain clean environments free from offensive odours and accumulated waste. Poor smells can discourage animals from eating comfortably, reducing feed intake and affecting growth, health, and performance. Clean surroundings matter.

Provide clean, drinkable water every day. Animals may reduce water consumption when water is dirty or contaminated, affecting feed intake, digestion, productivity, and health. Good water quality supports better performance.

Design feeders to minimise feed contamination and wastage, especially when raising livestock such as West African Dwarf goats. Feeding equipment helps protect nutrition, hygiene, and profitability. Protect every feeding opportunity.

Handle dead animals and meat hygienically by following disposal and biosecurity procedures. Good hygiene reduces pests, disease risks, and contamination, helping livestock enterprises remain sustainable and profitable. Good hygiene builds success.
