Opportunities rarely announce themselves before arriving. Sometimes, a simple phone call can open a door to career growth, leadership, learning, and meaningful professional advancement for someone truly prepared for success.

Recently, a client in the diaspora contacted me about finding a capable farm manager. I recommended a junior colleague who impressed him greatly during the interview and demonstrated strong competence.

Unfortunately, distance prevented my colleague from accepting the opportunity, so he recommended another junior colleague. The second applicant attended an interview but failed to convince my client of his expertise.

This experience reminds me that opportunities can become stepping stones to greater responsibilities. However, preparation matters because opportunities often come unexpectedly, and we may not receive second chances. Always prepare.

Whatever your profession, invest continually in theoretical knowledge, practical skills, communication, and confidence. When opportunity knocks, be ready to answer, because preparation can transform moments into lasting success. Stay ready.
