ROUNDWORM AND RINGWORM INFESTATION IN POULTRY BIRDS.

July 11, 2026

Healthy poultry flocks depend on effective disease prevention and good farm hygiene. Roundworms are internal parasites that live in the digestive tract, reducing nutrient absorption, slowing growth, and lowering egg production. Ringworm, however, is a fungal skin infection that affects the skin and feathers, causing scaly patches and feather loss. Although different in nature, both conditions can reduce flock performance if left untreated. Early detection protects flock health.

Poor sanitation, overcrowding, contaminated litter, and inadequate biosecurity increase the risk of these infections. Routine deworming, regular cleaning, dry housing, proper nutrition, and prompt isolation of affected birds help reduce disease spread. Farmers should also seek veterinary advice for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Clean management keeps birds healthy.

Preventing parasite and fungal infections is more effective than treating severe outbreaks. Consistent biosecurity, good husbandry, and regular health monitoring improve bird welfare, increase productivity, and support profitable poultry farming. Healthy birds build successful farms.
