Buying a quality ram for Eid or special occasions requires more than appearance; proper farm or backyard fattening can improve meat quality and value significantly. Quality begins with management.
Fattened animals generally develop better carcass characteristics, with desirable taste, colour, juiciness, tenderness, and eating quality compared with poorly raised market animals purchased. Good feeding matters.
During my undergraduate studies at FUNAAB, I worked under Professor B.O. Oduguwa, researching age effects on carcass characteristics and sensory evaluation of Red Sokoto goats. Research builds knowledge.
My research involved work at the meat processing laboratory and Animal Science laboratory, assessing carcass characteristics and sensory qualities before developing findings, recommendations, and conclusions. Experience supports evidence.
This experience reminds us that livestock production deserves informed comparison. Properly raised and fattened animals can offer better value, cooking performance, and satisfaction during celebrations. Choose wisely.
In conclusion, buying animals raised properly on farms or backyards can provide greater value for money. Celebrate wisely, choose quality, and enjoy every memorable occasion. Quality delivers satisfaction.
