MOTIVATION CAN CHANGE FARM PERFORMANCE
A client recently ventured into rabbitry with ten females and two males, hoping to build a profitable and sustainable enterprise from modest beginnings and long-term success.
During their first parity, the rabbits produced sixty kits, but only forty five survived. The result revealed management gaps requiring attention and stronger monitoring consistently.
Because he trusted my experience with man management, I advised establishing a clear agreement with his employee, linking performance directly to a simple financial incentive.
The agreement offered five hundred naira commission for every kit surviving until weaning. This approach created accountability, motivation, and a measurable target for improvement quickly.
At the second parity, sixty five kits were produced, with sixty surviving until weaning. That remarkable improvement demonstrates how motivation can positively influence farm performance.
Sometimes workers are genuinely trying, but extra encouragement can unlock better results. Fair incentives, proper supervision, and clear expectations can transform ordinary performance into excellence.
