INFECTIOUS CORYZA: A SILENT THREAT TO POULTRY PRODUCTIVITY

August 05, 2026

Healthy birds are the foundation of every profitable poultry enterprise, making disease prevention a priority. Infectious coryza quietly destroys productivity when ignored. Prevention always pays.

Infectious coryza is a highly contagious bacterial disease caused by Avibacterium paragallinarum, affecting mainly growing and laying chickens. Poor management encourages rapid transmission. Good management protects flocks.

The disease spreads through direct contact, contaminated equipment, drinking water, and carrier birds that appear healthy. Once introduced, outbreaks become difficult to contain. Biosecurity saves investments.

Affected birds develop facial swelling, nasal discharge, sneezing, watery eyes, reduced appetite, and weakness. Egg production falls sharply, reducing farm income and profitability. Early detection limits losses.

Effective control depends on strict biosecurity, proper ventilation, routine vaccination, prompt isolation, and sound flock management. Healthy birds ensure sustainable poultry success. Prevention remains the best medicine.
