Every farmer must understand the true value of livestock before selling. Proper valuation protects investments, strengthens confidence, and improves profitability. Knowledge protects your income.
Last year, a buyer offered ₦150,000 for one of my mature rams worth ₦300,000. Patience prevented unnecessary loss and rewarded informed decision-making. Patience preserves value.
The buyer claimed the ram was for personal consumption, hoping to negotiate a cheaper price. Honest valuation remained more important than emotional persuasion. Facts outweigh emotions.
Later, I shared the sales receipt showing the ram sold at its rightful value. Market knowledge always rewards farmers who remain disciplined. Right pricing brings respect.
Not every buyer understands the value of quality livestock, but informed buyers certainly do. Keep accurate records and price animals fairly without unnecessary exaggeration. Records guide pricing.
Successful livestock farming depends on knowledge, patience, fairness, and proper documentation. Value your animals correctly, avoid overpricing, and build lasting trust with every customer. Integrity sustains success.
